KC Photography – Vendor Spotlight

With the 2013 wedding season well underway, our venues welcome the opportunity to recognize and thank the numerous vendors who we work with on a weekly basis. We are looking forward to a fabulous year of weddings and appreciate every chance we have to collaborate with the talented professionals our brides and grooms plan their special day with. Over the next few weeks we will be showcasing the work of professionals who are featured in our wedding brochure.

Kristen Coffman, of KC Photography, is a regular at Bittersweet Farm, Rachel’s Lakeside and Waypoint Event Center. Her creative approach has the perfect balance of traditional technique and Kristen’s laid back personality puts couples at ease so they can truly enjoy their wedding day. KC Photography captures images that uniquely tell the story of wedding days from start to finish.

Annual Corporate Appreciation Party

After Winter Storm Nemo postponed Lafrance Hospitality’s Annual Corporate Appreciation Party on February 11th, the event was held on March 25th at Bittersweet Farm. Guests enjoyed a Mardi Gras inspired menu (the original theme), entertainment by Music on Wheels, delicious cocktails by Mandy, photos by the paparazzi wall & great company. The annual appreciation party is held each year to recognize LHC’s business partners and clients. It is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for their business and continued support, and we look forward to working with together in the future. Some photos are included below, and the complete album can be viewed on our Facebook page.

2013 Wedding Trends

In October, Merideth (LHC’s Marketing Manager) and Corrie (Bittersweet Farm GM/Sales Manager) attended the Wedding MBA conference in Las Vegas. The 3 day event was packed with informative seminars and workshops that educated attendees on up and coming industry trends. We thought we would share the 2013 trend and tradition alerts with you as we head into engagement season.

2013 Mega Trends (according to The Knot)

1. Twenties Glamour – inspired by the Great Gatsby and Downtown Abbey. The Knot predicts that 2013 weddings will see a lot of silk and simple silhouettes.

2. Ritzy Ranch – natural wood, hay & wildflowers will grow in popularity (Bittersweet Farm, anyone?)

3. Hipster Chic – Shorter dresses, vintage inspired photos, suspenders/bowties

In addition, up and coming traditions and traditions with a twist were also topics of conversation. Have you thought about using a #hashtag the day of your wedding for guests to use when posting photos on Twitter and Instagram? This is a great idea for creating a real time photo album and allows you to share your big day with people who are not there.

‘First look’ photo sessions are also growing in popularity, and we see why! This not only saves time during the cocktail hour and allows the couple to spend time with guests (which in turn eliminates the receiving line) but it also allows your photographer the opportunity to capture a truly intimate and special experience when the groom sees the bride for the first time. Check out this first look photo from M.Studios.

We are excited to share the upcoming engagement and wedding season with all of our LHC brides and look forward to seeing these trend predictions come to life!

Vendor Spotlight – Holly Haddad Photography

Holly Haddad Photography

Holly Haddad Photography

Holly Photographed her first wedding in 2008 and has had an increasing number of weddings and family shoots ever since.

LHC: Tell us about what you do.

Holly: As a photographer, I have a broad range of categories in which I work. I love doing weddings and they are my primary. I also do kids, families, senior photos and commercial work. After a shoot, I typically rush home to back up my images and begin editing them. I shoot in RAW so every image needs to be edited. After the editing is done, I choose some that I would like to display on my blog and I also add them to Facebook so clients can tag and share the images as well. Then, I send a high resolution disk to the client!

LHC: What do you love most about your job?

Holly: Making my clients happy! Photography is the best way to capture a moment and treasure it forever. Whether it be a wedding or just snapping the kids in the backyard, capturing those memories and seeing the look on clients’ faces when they remember the moment is the best! I also like to push myself to try new things – and love it when it works!

LHC: Favorite moment in a wedding?

Holly: Hmmm. Tough one. I love the ‘getting ready’ images – gives time for me to be creative and capture the raw emotion (and jitters!) of the bride and groom. I also love the dancing. Oh, the dancing. It is so tough to NOT feel the joy and love during the reception and just want to bust a move! I always feel a pull at the end of my time at a wedding to keep going when the music is good and the guests are having a great time!

LHC: What is your personal wedding/event style?

Holly: I’d say traditional, yet unique. I do like the traditional images of the bride and groom during the ceremony and reception, but also love grabbing those candids of them as well as the guests! I am always looking for new angles and ways to capture the moments that are special to each couple.

LHC: Explain the booking process for weddings.

Holly: I generally work best via email – so most bookings start with an email inquiry, which I respond to and ask a few questions. After that, if the couple would like to meet up, we can do that, otherwise I point them towards my blog and portfolio site for them to review my work (if they have not already). If they are looking to book, I draw them up a contract and ask them to send it back either via email or mail with a deposit and then they are booked!

LHC: What else would you like readers to know?

Holly: I love photography and making clients happy. I am always up for a challenge and love crazy ideas, locations, etc. During the day I am a technology teacher, so I try to not overbook in order to have images back in a timely fashion. Feel free to contact me viz email or Facebook with any questions!
